Applications for today’s type design are vast and plentiful. Similar to a Schweizer Taschenmesser, an extreme utility applicable to more or less any scenario at hand, contemporary technologies such as variable type can be useful for solving creative problems, of both digital and analog nature. A selection of projects will aim to exemplify the functional potential of type design beyond drawing letter shapes and creating fonts.
Established in 2018 by Elias Hanzer and Lucas Liccini, the studio specialises in graphic design and typography, often involving a heuristic approach. The partnership aims to advance commissioned as well as self-initiated projects by focusing on individual concepts and solutions, primarily by means of custom typefaces, typographic experimentation and careful consideration of production and print-specific details.
