Manuel Rossner is an artist and designer focusing on digital spatial practices and “the digital” as a material. The connection between the human brain and virtual worlds is constantly improved. Even though intangible, digital objects and environments become part of our daily lives and alter the way we perceive the world beyond immersive entertainment.
After founding Float Gallery, a virtual exhibitions space, accessible through the web and now also in VR in 2012, Manuel created a virtual extension building for NRW-Forum Düsseldorf and a VR-Building for Zürich based gallery Roehrs & Boetsch. In his recent solo show at MdbK Leipzig “There’s no feeling, where there’s no pain”, he merges virtual and physical space and tests the museums capability as a training area for machine learning driven agents.
In 2019 he launched Hightype, a font foundry for 3D typography. The first font, HT Standard was developed in collaboration with Dinamo Typefaces and serves as a base for all kinds of animations and modifications.
In his talk he will present his approach to digital spaces and outline how virtual reality, artificial intelligence and the internet are creating the platform for the next generation of interactive technology.
